ATRC Simulator

a_FMX_mainOn Saturday, February 12, the club met at the Aviation Training &  Resource Center (ATRC) in Carrollton, TX to meet with the President of  ATRC, Ray Heyde, to learn about his company and the Redbird FMX 1000, an FAA Approved Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD) and get a hands  on demo of the simulator.

In a nutshell, Ray and his company are all about customized flight  training. ATRC offers individualized training in many areas  including logging up to 2.5 hours toward your Private Certificate, 20  hours toward your Instrument Rating, 50 hours toward a Commercial  Rating, and 25 hours toward an ATP Rating.  In the FMX 1000, you can  maintain your instrument currency, practice emergency operations,  complete most of the requirements for the Instrument Proficiency Check,  and for the non-pilot, pinch-hitter training to feel more comfortable in the cockpit.

Ray is offering a special deal to flying club members.  The hourly rate for the FMX 1000 is $75 per hour and you can bring your own instructor.   Instructor checkout on the FMX 1000 takes only about 15 minutes and  Instructors can get checked out in the FMX1000 free of charge.  The real advantage to doing some training in the FMX 1000 is the ability to  pause the simulator and discuss scenarios as well as the ability to  simulate actual instrument failures, rather than just cover up the  instrument and pretend it's malfunctioning.

Hours of operation for ATRC are by appointment.  Ray will open his office to  meet your schedule at any reasonable hour.  You can reach him at 940.453.2852 or email ray@atrcsim.com to schedule an appointment. ATRC is an exciting new concept in flight  training, if you get a chance, go down there and check the place out
