a_TSALogoThe Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) continue to monitor reports on potential terrorist threats in the United States. While there is no specific or credible intelligence that al-Qa'ida or its affiliates are plotting attacks in the United States to coincide with the ten year anniversary of 9/11 , we remain at a heightened state of vigilance and security measures are in place to detect and prevent plots against the United States should they emerge. --- Refuel Offsite and Save Money ---

Local Fuel Rates (as of 12/18/2011) via http://100ll.com/

Sherman Municipal (KSWI) 30NM @ 0° $4.26/gallon
Majors Airport  (KGVT) 31NM @ 104° $4.37/gallon
Grayson County (KGYI) 37NM @ 352° $4.49/gallon
Gainesville Municipal (KGLE) 47NM @ 313° $4.50/gallon
Denton Municipal (KDTO) 35NM @ 272° $4.52/gallon
Rockwall Municipal (F46) 19NM @ 152° $4.65/gallon
Mesquite Metro (KHQZ) 29NM @ 173° $4.65/gallon

Our current reimbursement rate at KTKI is $6.19/gallon.  If you refuel offsite and provide the receipt from your fuel purchase, we reimburse you at the McKinney fuel rate. Generally speaking, you will SAVE beetween 10% and 20% on your flight. It's simple to get reimbursed.
  1. When you re-fuel offsite, make sure not to forget your receipt.
  2. When you land at McKinney, use a pen to write your club number on the receipt. Also, write the number of gallons purchased in the tach log.
  3. When you return the aircraft key, drop the fuel receipt in the slot of the coinbox sitting in the TFC keybox.
  4. THAT'S IT.  Look for the credit on your next TFC invoice!

--- Aircraft Scheduling Guidelines ---

Just a reminder of some things to keep in mind when reserving aircraft with the TFC.
  1. Members are only allowed to reserve a single aircraft for the same date and time.
  2. Only one aircraft reservation is allowed to be scheduled beyond 10 days in the future.
  3. Designated trainer aircraft cannot be scheduled for overnight cross-country flights without prior approval by the Board.
  4. We will restrict your access to the scheduling system if our records indicate:
    1. you have not entered the membership information (including emergency contact info) and changed the password
    2. your medical has expired
    3. your yearly club check-out has expired
    4. your bi-annual FAA check-out has expired
    5. your financial account with the club is 60 days in arrears.
  5. No shows are extremely frustrating to the rest of the membership. PLEASE cancel if you can't use the time you have scheduled. Club rules state the penalties for no shows, but if everyone is courteous we will not have to use them.
  6. If  you are grounded due to weather, cancel ASAP so that an IFR pilot may be able to use the aircraft.
    1. If weather or a maintenance problem keeps you from returning on time, call the Operations VP (or any Board member) so we can inform other members who might be affected.
Thank you for your cooperation on this matter.

Suggestions, questions, comments, concerns, and constructive criticism are always welcome. Please do not hesitate to email or call (214.282.6573).

    Thanks,

Enhancements to FAASafety.gov and the WINGS Program
    Notice Number: NOTC3396

We've made some great enhancements to FAASafety.gov -- they are effective on December 6, 2011.

Some changes are specifically for Instructors, some are for general users, some are for participants in the WINGS Program, some are for  FAASTeam Representatives and FAASTeam Program Managers, and all will  improve your experience on FAASafety.gov!

Just go to this document, https://www.faasafety.gov/files/notices/2011/Dec/2011_December.pdf, to read about all these improvements. (Click on the link or copy and  paste it into your browser.) And then go to FAASafety.gov to experience  them!

As always, we appreciate all those who have taken time to make suggestions for improvement.
